Since we’re on the topic of Wolf of Wall Street, I’d thought I’d make another recommendation.
Let me ask you a question first. Do you enjoy horror or science fiction stories where an alien creature attaches itself to the victim and refuses to let go? Yeah, me too! Then you’ll love this book.
The Wolf of Wall Street Opens on the 25th
The movie of the year opens on Christmas Day. It’s another pairing of Hollywood heavyweights Martin Scorsese and Leo DiCaprio with the actor playing the notorious real life figure Jordan Belfort who ran a boiler room operation in the 1990s selling penny stocks to the unsuspecting before going to prison. The movie Boiler Room was about a low level salesman who worked for Belfort’s firm Stratton Oakmont. According to people who have already seen it the 3 hours fly by.
New Aristotle Onassis Film in the Works
The rumor mill has it that a new movie about Aristotle Onassis will start shooting late this year or early. It will have the great Al Pacino playing the Onassis. This brings up the question of who will play the young Onassis. Unfortunately, no details are available at this point in time but it is something to look forward to.
Okay, I lied. This is actually a more specific list. It’s a list of movies about tycoons. However, since it’s safe to assume that no one ever searches for “tycoon movies,” I used a broader h1 header tag. (Please don’t tell Google.) By “tycoon” I mean guys who build empires. Call them deal-makers, if you prefer.
With the preamble out of the way, let’s get this show on the road.
The Top Ten Tycoon Movies
I’ve been a big film buff ever since I can remember and have a particular affection for good business movies. Unfortunately, good business movies are as rare as hen’s teeth. Tycoon movies are even scarcer. However, here is my top 10 list in no particular order:
Onassis: The Richest Man in the World
Just got an email from someone enrolled in the course that YouTube has the old 1988 film Onassis the Richest Man in the World. This one is based on the Peter Evans novel. It stars Raul Julia as the adult Aristotle Onassis with Anthony Quinn as his impossible to please father. Here’s the imdb page for it.
One of these days I will compile a list of the top 10 tycoon movies.
